The purpose of this blog
The reason this blog exists is to explore the impact and nostalgia that growing up with Mexican cuisine has instilled within me.
Whilst looking for inspiration for how to model my blog I found this very similar
recipe to a beloved dish called Arroz con Leche, which is usually a sweet breakfast pudding.
That like the name implies is mostly rice and milk. This recipe however replaces the rice with
oatmeal and changes a few other minor details. this recipe is also form someone of
Mexican heritage but from a very different part of Mexico.
This image was one I had on my phone from an Arroz con Leche that I had made a few months ago.
It was delicious.
The reason for a blog instead of another method of exploration is because the blog format is a great tool to motivate myself to truly learn the recipes of some of the dishes that I have yet to commit to memory. As well as to explore the emotional impact and comfort that many of these dishes have delivered to my life.
This dish will be one of the cornerstone posts in the future of this blog, I grew up as someone who was far from a lover of cake but with a massive sweet-tooth, Flan holds a special place in my heart.
Each post will have pictures of the dishes I create alongside their recipe, and either a cultural norm related to the dish, or a more specific personal anecdote related to that dish.
